Add the UPR Clean Side Catch Can to your UPR Catch Can System for the Ultimate protection! In performance applications, especially boosted applications, crankcase vapor and oil mist can be forced out of the crankcase vent (CCV) into the cold air intake or air box during hard acceleration and / or towing and hauling. Installing a UPR Clean Side Catch Can will trap the oil mist from crankcase vapors, preventing the mist from getting into the air intake while still allowing proper function of your PCV system. This is the best addition to your UPR Catch Can system.
Automotive PCV systems have a 'Dirty' side, and a 'Clean' side. The Dirty side uses intake manifold vacuum to draw air out through the PCV valve or PCV fitting to evacuate moisture, fumes and acids from the crankcase. This is where you would install a PCV side catch can. As this air is drawn out of the crankcase, clean air (or commonly referred to as 'makeup' air) is drawn into the crankcase through the Crankcase vent which connects to the cold air intake or factory air box. This fresh, filtered air helps to 'flush out' the crankcase fumes. Think of it as bad air out, and good air in.
